Trespasser found on railway line
The thug later returned to the house and was heard boasting: “Aye, we got him.” The court heard Mr McInnes suffered a collapsed lung and spent a week in hospital.
Donnelly and Cameron later handed themselves into police. Donnelly’s DNA was found on the victim’s jumper.
Defence QC Tony Graham, representing Donnelly, said: “He realises this sort of behaviour is entirely unacceptable.”
Counsel Louise Arrol, representing Cameron, added: “He is assessed as at minimum risk of re- offending. I would ask the court not to jail him, but give him a community-based alternative to prison.” Commuters had their journey home disrupted on Tuesday night after a man was found trespassing on the rail line.
At around 5pm, police received reports of a man on the line in the Gallowhill area of Paisley.
ScotRail immediately halted all trains on the line, which heads for Paisley Gilmour Street and on to Johnstone, Howwood, Kilbarchan and Lochwinnoch.
There were delays on the line while police dealt with the incident.
By 6pm, services had returned to normal.
A spokesperson for ScotRail Alliance said: “Some services through Paisley Gilmour Street were disrupted due to a trespasser on the line around 5pm last night.
“We take this opportunity to remind people not to trespass anywhere on the railway as they put themselves and others at risk of serious injury.”
