Teenage thugs rob man at cash machine

Two teenage yobs battered a man as he went to withdraw cash at a Paisley ATM.

The 44- year- old victim was punched to the face as the thugs treated to rob him beside a cash machine in Forbes Place, which is close to Dunn Square.

Detectives are probing the incident, which happened at around 8.55pm on Wednesday in the town centre.

It is understood the man was lifting money when he was approached by two teenagers who demanded he hand over cash.

The pair launched their violent attack when they realised the victim wasn’t going to give them what they wanted.

Both suspects are described as white males, in their teens. One was wearing a blue hoody and the other had a multicolou­red T- shirt covering his face, and he was also wearing dark-coloured jogging bottoms.

Police area now hunting the culprits and have appealed to anyone who may have been in the area at the time to come forward with informatio­n.

Detective inspector Ross MacDonald, from Paisley CID, said: “A 44- year- old man was assaulted during an attempted robbery at an ATM in Paisley’s Forbes Place.

“The incident happened a ro u n d 8.55pm on Wednesday. He was approached by two males as he attended the cash machine who demanded money from him.

“During the course of the exchange, the victim has been punched to the head. The suspects are described as being male and in their late teens. One was wearing a blue hoody, and the other had his face covered with a multicolou­red T-shirt and was wearing dark coloured jogging bottoms.

“I would urge any members fo the public who may have witnessed this incident or have any informatio­n in relation to it, to come forward and speak to police.”
