Westway deal will mean new jobs
A major new industrial deal has taken place in Renfrew, and has brought with it more than 40 new and existing jobs.
Canmoor, the owner of Westway Park in Renfrew, has agreed terms with AMG Group, one of the UK’s leading outdoor, footwear and snow sports brands, to establish a new 113,000 sq ft distribution centre.
AMG has agreed a 10-year lease.
The deal comes after Canmoor acquired the park from the administrator for £40 million in March.
Tom White, director at Canmoor, said: “This is a major deal and we are delighted that AMG has chosen Westway for its expansion plans and new distribution centre.
“We are committed to investing in the future of Westway by providing occupiers with the right product and terms to meet their needs.”
According to bosses, the new centre will enable AMG to combine operations into one centre, replacing two existing sites in the west of Scotland and a third party operation in the Midlands.
The centre will focus on inbound and outbound logistics and will enable AMG to consolidate orders and despatch them from one site, resulting in a single consignment being delivered to customers, bosses say.
Bernie McGown, HR and operations director at AMG, said: “To rise to the challenges of a consolidated distribution centre, we have the Westway Park team at 41 dedicated members.
“This means we can despatch sales orders in consolidated batches, allowing us to provide firstclass service to all of our customers, domestic and international alike.”
AMG currently employ 115 staff. Head office staff will remain in Port Glasgow, where the business has been based for 20 years.
Canmoor is a developer and asset manager in the warehouse and business space sectors.
Westway is 130-acre selfcontained site is Scotland’s largest fully enclosed industrial park.
It is home to a range of local, national and international businesses.
