Thug caged after fourth blade conviction

-

A knife thug caged for his fourth blade conviction told family when he was led from the dock: “It’s a wee holiday.”

Colin Blakely, 29, lied to cops he was going to use the weapon to fit a carpet when he was collared.

He pulled it out and left it on a bin when he spotted officers walking towards him.

Blakely was jailed for three years after he admitted carrying the knife when he appeared at Paisley Sheriff Court.

Sheriff Tom McCartney heard the thug has racked up a slew of convictions.

He said:“Your record of previous offending, which includes previous offences for having knives or sharp implements and assault with a knife, is such that there is no possible alternative sentence other than a substantial prison sentence.”

Blakely ditched the blade when he was approached by police in Ferguslie Park.

He left it on a wheelie bin and told them: “I’m going to my dad’s to fit carpet. That’s why I’ve got the knife.”

Police visited his parents’home and his story unravelled after he was stopped in Blackstoun Road on January 18.

A jury took just 15 minutes yesterday to convict him.

He previously spent two years behind bars for carrying out a knife attack in November 2013.

The lout was locked-up for another two years in March 2016 for carrying a blade and for three months in 2012 for carrying out an assault and being armed with scissors.
