Big things expected of Ross at Sunderland
Sunderland chairman Stewart Donald has tipped Jack Ross to be a huge success as his regime kicks into gear this week.
Donald admits he has been blown away by support for his appointment of Ross, revealing that he has been inundated with messages hailing the arrival of the former St Mirren boss.
The former St Mirren manager, who guided the Buddies to the Scottish Championship title last season, was in high demand, though, and Donald revealed he had to act quickly to get his man.
He said:“Pretty much everyone I’ve talked to in football has said,‘you have to talk to Jack Ross before he goes somewhere else’, because he is potentially one of the brightest young managers in the country.
“If one or two people tell you that, you tend to take it with a pinch of salt, but literally everyone ,since I came to Sunderland, has been telling me that.
“I became aware that we were likely to lose him – or not have the opportunity – so we moved very, very quickly for him and I’m delighted that I’ve been able to persuade him to come.
“Jack will explain his playing philosophy, but he plays a very high-tempo game with a big press, and he expects results in the final third.
“I think, without putting too much pressure on Jack, that he will play a type of football that will really get the fans going.”
