Go on the run to see superstars at Hampden
Thousands of music fans are expected to head to Hampden Park tomorrow to see the most powerful couple in music perform.
Superstars Beyoncé and Jay-Z will play their only Scottish date as part of the On the Run II world tour.
The couple will be performing at Scottish football’s national stadium, which has a capacity of more than 52,000, as well as London, Cardiff and Manchester.
The UK leg of the tour kicked off in Cardiff on Wednesday before the couple head to Glasgow for their second of 48 shows in total – 18 in Europe Beyonce and Jay-Z’s world tour arrives in Glasgow this weekend
and 30 in North America, where it does not finish until October 4 in Seattle.
The power pairing will be performing their biggest hits together as well as others from their solo albums – Jay-Z’s 4:44 and Beyoncé’s Lemonade.
The worldwide stars previously went on the road together with their first On the Run tour in 2014 and around 1 million people attended, with 21 shows being performed.
The number of shows this time round has more than doubled and – according to Billboard – so will the gross profit, with the pair predicted to make a
whopping $200 million.
The duo, who have three children together and have been married since 2008, have several collaborations including the smash hit Crazy in Love, Drunk in Love and Bonnie and Clyde.
Winning 21 Grammy Awards, having sold more than 50 million albums and 75 million singles worldwide, Jay-Z remains one of the best-selling musicians of all time.
His13th studio album, 4: 44, was released in June last year and was praised worldwide for its emotional and personal content.
Beyoncé Knowles Carter, his other half, has won 22 Grammy Awards and is the most nominated woman in the award’s history.
Lemonade is the former Destiny’s Child frontwoman’s sixth solo album, released in 2016.
Primarily R& B, the album also features reggae and blues and features guest vocals from the likes of The Weeknd, Kendrick Lamar and James Blake.
