Ogilvie confident ‘Lie will retain top-flight status
Nervous 90 minutes awaits
Ar t h u r l i e b o s s Billy Ogilvie insists his side are in determined mood ahead of tonight’s second leg play- off clash despite trailing on aggregate.
The Barrhead side are battling for their Super Premier Division lives as they look to overturn a 2-1 deficit against Irvine Meadow at Dunterlie.
Despite the first- leg loss, Ogilvie believes his charges have what it takes to retain their place in the top- flight of Junior football.
“Obviously we were disappointed to lose the first leg but I think the second-half performance showed how determined we are,” Ogilvie said.
“They are in the right frame of mind going into tonight and, off the back of the second- half performance, we are as confident as we can be.”
‘Lie found themselves trailing 2- 0 to Meadow after 37 minutes and must have been fearing the worst.
But they rallied to pull one back in the second period to give them a fighting chance of survival.
“We dominated the second half to be fair and missed a couple of glorious chances to get the draw,” Ogilvie added. “But we were happy to get one back.
“That sets us up to for tonight and we have to go out and do the business. I can say that the mood in the squad is good. They are determined.
“I think if we can repeat the second- half performance then we are in with a really good chance.”
And the gaffer has pleaded with the Barrhead public to get out and lend their backing to the side during the make or break clash.
He added: “I would ask folk to come out and be the 12th man for us tonight.
“It is a huge game for the club and we would love to have a good crowd out supporting us.”
The Arthurlie v Irvine Meadow second- leg relegation play-off match kicks of at Dunterlie at 7.30pm tonight.
