Help is at hand to improve businesses
A politician is urging business owners in Renfrewshire to make sure they apply for a shop improvement grant scheme.
Councillor Kenny MacLaren, who represents Paisley North West, wants entrepreneurs to get in touch for the chance to receive support to improve their shop fronts.
Applications to the Retail Improvement Scheme are now open and grants will be available for commercial premises in established retail areas throughout Renfrewshire.
Mr MacLaren said: “The Retail Improvement Scheme aims to encourage a high standard of physical improvements to the fronts of properties in retail areas in Renfrewshire.
“The Retail Improvement Grant has helped many local businesses improve not only their shop fronts but also the appearance of our local retail areas.”
Grant funding is available to assist qualifying occupiers to carry out a range of improvements.
The grant is calculated at the sole discretion of Renfrewshire Council but can be up to 70 per cent of eligible costs, with a minimum grant of £1,000 and a maximum of £8,000.
Applicants are invited to contact both the council’s development management team at dc@renfrewshire.gov.uk and the building standards team at bc@renfrewshire.gov.uk at the earliest possible opportunity for initial advice on their proposals.
