Biker dies in crash

Police have appealed for witnesses after a motorcycli­st tragically died following a collision in Paisley.

Brian Crossan, 33, was killed when his Suzuki GSXR 750 was involved in accident with a Fiat 500 car in Penilee Road, near to its junction with Arkleston Road.

The smash happened around 5.45pm on Sunday and Mr Crossan, from Blantyre in Lanarkshir­e, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the 57-year-old man driving the Fiat 500 and his 59 year- old female passenger were uninjured.

Emergency crews raced to the scene, but they were unable to save Mr Crossan.

The road was closed for several hours while a detailed investigat­ion of the scene was carried out. A report has been sent to the procurator fiscal.

Officers looking into the incident have appealed for witnesses to the crash to come forward and urged drivers who may have been in the area to check dash cam footage to see if they captured anything.

Sergeant Kenneth Malaney, of the Divisional Road Policing Unit based at Greenock Police Office, said: “I would appeal to any witnesses to this crash who have not yet spoken to police to please come forward.

“I would also like to speak to anyone who was driving on that road around the time of the crash, and anyone with dash cam footage that may assist our investigat­ion to contact the Divisional Road Policing Unit at Greenock Police Office through 101.”
