Hunt for abusive thug who assaulted woman

Police have appealed for witnesses after a thug assaulted a woman in Ferguslie.

The 57- year- old victim was walking in the Privies Park when a man became abusive then attacked her.

The incident happened at 12.50pm on Monday and detectives believe there may have been people around at the time who could help with their enquiries.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “A 57- year- old woman was subjected to verbal abuse and assaulted in an area known as the Privies at around 12.50pm on Monday.

“We believe there may have been a number of people in the area at the time who may have seen the incident and I would like to appeal to them to come forward.

“I would ask them to get in touch with police in Paisley on 101, or Crimestoppers, anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
