World’s eyes on RAH
Some of the world’s top medical leaders visited Royal Alexandra Hospital’s intensive c a re u n i t yesterday as part of a health improvement event .
Hosted on alternate years between Europe and the USA, the summer meeting of the international Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) brings together health organisations from across the globe to share best practice.
Glasgow was chosen to host this year’s summer meeting because of international interest in NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde’s lead role in developing and implementing the Scottish Patient Safety Programme which has led to dramatic patient safety improvements.
As part of the visit, guests met with NHSGGC’s medical director Dr Jennifer Armstrong and clinicians at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital (QEUH).
They also visited the Royal Alexandra Hospital’s intensive care unit and medical admissions teams, as well as meting staff at Glasgow Royal Infirmary and Gartnavel Royal.
