An abusive yob who terrified his girlfriend during a domestic rammy has been remanded in jail.

Kyle Barnes, 34, lost the plot wth partner Caitlin Muldoon during a disturbance which took place at a flat in King Street , Paisley.

The bully shouted, swore, made offensive remarks and acted aggressively towards Ms Muldoon leaving her fearing for her safety.

Barnes then kicked off at police who showed up to arrest him by making offensive and homophobic remarks as they were transporting him to custody. Yesterday Barnes, formerly of supported accommodation at the town’s Abercorn Street, but currently banged up at HMP Kilmarnock, appeared at Paisley Sheriff Court where he admitted responsibility for the offences.

Defence agent Mr McPherson said: “My client agrees a plea of guilty in respect of both charges.

“He appears today from custody as he is currently serving a four-month sentence in relation to another matter and his earliest date of liberation would be July 6.”

The lawyer added he expected the court to adjourn the case to call for reports in preparation for sentencing.

Barnes pleaded guilty to a charge of behaving in a threatening and abusive manner likely to cause a reasonable person to suffer fear and alarm by shouting, swearing and acting in an aggressive manner towards Ms Muldoon, his partner residing there, and uttering offensive remarks on May 16, 2017. He also admitted to a charge of behaving in a threatening and abusive manner likely to cause a reasonable person to suffer fear and alarm by repeatedly uttering offensive and homophobic remarks to police offices en route from Paisley to Greenock Police Office.

Sheriff David Pender concurred with the accused’s lawyer by remanding Barnes in custody while he obtained a Criminal Justice Social Work Report.

The accused will discover his fate when he returns to court for sentencing next month.
