Mane man Caelen to donate locks

Four-year-old boy’s incredible long hair will be cut for charity

A four-year- old boy from Paisley is proving that the first cut is the kindest by chopping off his long blonde locks for charity.

Caelen Connor hasn’t had his hair cut since he was born and his parents Brian Connor and Pamela Smith were astounded when it grew to a whopping 26 inches.

Now Caelen is ready for go for the chop and wants to donate his long locks to help others.

His mane will be passed on to the Little Princess Trust, which provides real hair wigs to sick children suffering from hair loss.

The inspirational lad has also racked up £420 in sponsorship, which will go SiMBA, a organisation that offers support to those whose baby has died at any stage of pregnancy or close to birth.

The SiMBA charity is a cause particularly close to the Connor family, and dad Brian has said he couldn’t be more proud of his boy.

Brian said: “When we cut our oldest son’s hair for the first time we immediately regretted it.

“He was born with all this funky, spiky hair and we knew we wanted to keep it long.

“We decided not to cut it until his fifth birthday and before he started primary school.”

Caelen will be showing off his new hairdo just in time for joining his P1 class at Williamsburgh Primary in August.

Brian added: “It’s down to his hips at the moment and it is always in a pony tail.

“He has blue eyes and blonde hair and he gets annoyed when people mistake him for a girl.

“It might be a shock for him to see himself with short hair at first but he just wants to look like his big brother Alexander.”

The family praised Caelen for all his fundraising efforts.

Brain added: “We all know people have been affected by child loss.

“SiMBA is an great organisation and they run entirely on donations.

“Caelen knows exactly how important what he is doing is and is really excited to help. “We are so proud of him.”  For more information on SiMBA, call 01368 860141 or Jenni Morris on 07894165579.
