Food was fit for royalty

-

Determined to live up to their reputation for creating the best Indian dishes in paisley, Lorraine Howard headed to the royal taj to sample their lunchtime culinary delights.

and it didn’t disappoint.

We were invited to the lunchtime buffet, which is served Monday to Friday, from noon until 4pm at the cheap price of £5.95.

From the moment we sat down, the team at the royal taj made us feel very regal as they waited on our every need.

before we had our coats off they arrived at our window table with a huge plate of poppadoms, dip and spiced onions.

as we munched our way quickly through that feast, our starters were brought to us on a hot plate and as we sat salivating at every sizzle, we were presented with a tantalizing Indian delight from spiced chicken wings to battered potato and aromatic pakora - it was a lovely way to start a meal. this was the shared platter for two. next, it was time to take on the star of the show, the buffet cart.

and here you really are spoiled for choice.

Your staple pilau rice and nan bread was there for the taking along with a range of sweet smelling dishes including chicken bhoona, tikka masala and jalfrezi.

and you could fill your plate as high as you like, though, given how much I had eaten beforehand, I did struggle a little.

Fresh, tender meat with the softest nan I have ever tasted, as I sat contently and still as the attentive staff tempting me with desserts and coffee.

Definitely a must-go to place for fans of Indian cuisine.
