Rapist back in jail for attack

-

A freed rapist is back behind bars for smacking a man with a candle holder.

Paul Haggerty, 27, sparked a flat rammy when he grabbed the ornament and cracked it over Dale Fallon’s head.

He was previously jailed for seven years after carrying out a sex attack on a sleeping woman a decade ago.

During a hearing at Paisley Sheriff Court Haggerty admitted assaulting the man.

Sheriff Frances McCartney head he was supposed to be under a “high degree of supervision”.

She said: “I am satisfied the only realistic disposal is one of imprisonment.”

Haggerty hammered his victim with the weapon during a row at his Johnstone home.

He was also rapped for refusing to give his personal details when asked by a cop on May 24.

The court heard there was “some doubt” over the attack.

But he pled guilty after being hauled into the dock.

Haggerty was trying to set himself up in construction when he attacked the man.

He revealed he had applied for courses to work and hoped to join his brother in the industry.

The fiend begged to be kept out of jail to help him care for his ill mum.

His lawyer said: “She suffers from depression and, at times, finds it difficult to cope. “He stops in to assist her.” Haggerty raped a woman after she fell asleep.

He was locked up at the High Court in Glasgow.

Lord McEwan told him then: “The offences are wanton and inexcusable.”

Haggerty pounced in the home in Barrhead’s Sunnyside Place in 2008.

He claimed he had gone to the house to play computer games.

The judge heard he “hated” women, but had a girlfriend he held in the “highest regards”.

The brute, of Sycamore Avenue, was locked up for more than six months for the latest attack.
