Biker is rushed to RAH after accident

A motorcycli­st suffered a broken leg when he was involved in a collision with a car on a rural Renfrewshi­re road.

The 54-year-old man was rushed to Paisley’s Royal Alexandra Hospital yesterday morning after he was thrown from his bike.

The smash happened at the junction of Kilbarchan Cemetery and Bridge of Weir Road just before 9.40am.

It is understood the man suffered a broken leg during the crash, while the driver of the other car did not sustain any injuries.

Long traffic delays were reported in the area as emergency crews raced to the scene to help the stricken biker.

Police appealed for any witnesses to come forward and urged drivers to check dashcam footage to see if they captured anything.

A spokeswoma­n said: “We were called to assist our ambulance colleagues following a road collision at the junction between Kilbarchan Cemetery and Bridge of Weir Road shortly before 9.40am yesterday.

“A 54- year- old man was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital after he came off his bike during a collision with another car.

“His injuries are not thought to be life threatenin­g and the driver of the other vehicle did not sustain any injuries.

“Officers remained on scene until the area was made safe and enquiries are ongoing into the incident.

“If y o u have any informatio­n in relation to this incident, we would ask that you get in touch on 101.”

The Scottish Ambulance Service raced to the scene to assist the man.

A spokesman said: “We received a call at 09.35am on Friday to attend a road traffic collision on the Bridge of Weir Road.

“We dispatched one ambulance, two advanced paramedic units and a paramedic response unit to the scene.

“One male patient in their 50s was transporte­d to Royal Alexandra Hospital.”
