GREAT DANE RASMUS IS LUCKY 13 FOR CLAN

Talented Danish forward is latest signing for Braehead

- David Campbell

Danish forward Rasmus Bjerrum has become Braehead Clan’s lucky thirteenth signing of the close season.

The 26-year-old joins from Metal Ligaen team Odense Bulldogs where he has spent the past five seasons.

The native of Esbjerg in Denmark, won the Danish Cup with Odense back in 2016.

Head coach Pete Russell confirmed the signing as he continues to shape his roster for the season ahead.

He said: “I am delighted to add talented former junior Danish international forward Rasmus Bjerrum to our roster for the coming season.”

And Russell praised the Dane’s on ice intelligence, saying he will bring a new dimension to the Clan’s attack.

He added: “Rasmus has good speed, is a really good shot, competes hard and has a great hockey IQ.

“When Rasmus’ name came up I watched video and really like what I saw.

“He is a very good player with and without the puck. He makes smart decisions and can play in all situations.

“He is a young man who has done very well in Denmark in a good league and is now hungry to try something new outside his homeland.

“I love his hunger and I’m really excited to seeing him in action for the Clan.”

New coach Russell has been hard at work building his roster for the season ahead as they look to bounce back from an underwhelming campaign last season when they failed to reach the play-offs for the first time in their history.

Bjerrum becomes the thirteenth player to join the Clan for 2018/19 following the signings of: Zack Fitzgerald, Scott Pitt, Matt Stanisz, Michal Gutwald, Gerard Hanson, Joel Rumpel, Scott Tanski, Jack Musil, Craig Peacock, Matt Haywood, Zach Sullivan and Gary Russell.
