Man rushed to hospital after hammer attack

Victim suffered head injury in vicious daylight asssault

A man was rushed to hospital after a violent hammer attack in Paisley.

The 32- year- old was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital after he was battered by two weaponwiel­ding thugs.

Police say the victim suffered a head injury as he was also punched and kicked during the incident, which happened in Walker Street.

Officers raced to the scene after reports of men fighting in the street and concerned members of the public raised the alarm.

They discovered that the victim had sustained a head injury and was bleeding from the mouth.

They quickly began to try and trace his attackers.

The man was taken by ambulance to the RAH, where he received treatment and was later released.

Cops are now appealing for witnesses to the shocking daylight assault to come forward as they look to snare the culprits.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “We are investigat­ing after a 32-year-old man was assaulted by two men.

“He was struck with a hammer during the incident which happened around 6.45pm on Sunday.

“He was also dragged around, punched and kicked during the incident.

“The victim was taken to the RAH where he received treatment to a head wound and was later released.

“We believe that a number of people may been in the area at the time of the incident. We would like to hear from them as we believe they may be able to help with our enquiries.

“We are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen the assault to come forward.
