Carers’ Centre income tops over £1m
Renfrewshire Carers’Centre had an income of more than £1 million for the year 2017/18.
The Paisley-based charity’s annual report reveals that this was an increase of £171,827 from the previous year.
Almost £950,000 was spent and this was an increase of £157,507 from last year, meaning a total carried forward of £64,782.
The increase in income was mainly due to the funds raised through the social enterprise Care at Home service which has seen the service nearly treble in the past year, the report states.
Among the income received was £3,500 from Renfrewshire Council for the centre’s Kinship Carers’ group.
Young Carers got £5,000 from Glasgow Airport’s Flightpath fund, £3,000 from Gleniffer High School through the Youth Philanthropy Initiative sponsored by the Wood Foundation, and £2,000 from Carers’Trust for Young Carers’ grants.
The centre’s fundraising group held a fundraising dance in October at Abercorn Bowling Club which was a huge success, raising £1,000.
The report adds:“Our Social Enterprise Care at Home is continuing to grow and now provides 525 hours a week, totalling 19,508 a year.
“The income for this year was £275,970 – however, as we are still establishing the enterprise, the infra structure costs are relatively high.”
