Pregnant woman punched by thug after row on bus

Victim was struck in face by another woman

Cops are hunting a yob who punched a pregnant woman in a shocking bus attack.

The 21-year-old was struck in the face by another woman during a heated argument on a McGill’s coach in Paisley.

It is understood the pair became embroiled in a row in front of stunned passengers on the number 26 in the town’s Smithhills Street at around 6.50pm on Tuesday.

However things turned violent when the suspect belted the pregnant woman in the temple before getting off the bus and making off.

The victim did not sustain any serious injuries during the assault.

The attacker is described a white female, 5ft 3ins, with blonde shoulder length hair, wearing dark glasses, a grey vest top, 3/4 length denim trousers and white trainers.

Police are now appealing for any witnesses to the incident to come forward as they look to trace the culprit.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “A 21-year-old woman was assaulted in an incident on a bus in Paisley.

“She became involved an altercatio­n with another female on the McGill’s 26 bus in Smithhills Street at around 6.50pm on Tuesday.

“Thereafter, the suspect struck the woman to the side of the head, before exiting the bus and making off The suspect is described as being a white female, white female, 5ft 3ins, with blonde shoulder length hair,.

“I would ask anyone who may have been on the bus at the time and who may have witnessed the incident to come forward and speak with police.

“Likewise if you have any informatio­n in relation to it, we would like to hear from you.

“We are carrying out enquires into the incident, including checking CCTV footage.”
