Toe the line or else, sheriff warns yob Lout dodges appointments

- Ron Moore

A foul-mouthed yob with a grudge against cops has been slated for breaching a court order.

Jamie Maley, 27, was handed 200 hours of unpaid work after a series of run-ins with police but has repeatedly failed to keep his appointments.

Yesterday he was given a stern ticking off by a sheriff for dodging his work assignments.

Paisley Sheriff Court heard Maley, of the town’s Clarence Street, had notched up at least four complaints for not turning up for his placements when he admitted the latest breach of the Community Payback Order.

He was handed the punishment after he was arrested at Renfrew Road, Paisley, on September 23 last year for abusing officers by shouting, swearing and making threats.

He also made a homophobic remark at cops while he was being detained in custody.

On March 14, also 2017, Maley had been arrested after a disturbance in Springbank Road, Paisley, involving a mob of youths who were singing an expletiveladen song which was anti-police in sentiment.

While he was being placed under arrest he launched into an abusive rant at cops.

Defence agent David O’Hagan confirmed Maley was admitting the breach of his court order when he appeared in the dock.

He said: “There were occasions when he was there. But he admits he failed to turn up and, accordingly, he admits he was in breach.”

Sheriff Colin Pettigrew, who handed the accused the original order, took a dim view of his conduct, telling him: “You are admitting the breach and this is against a background of a number of failures to attend. “You are skating on thin ice. “However, I am prepared to give you a chance and I will call for a supplementary social work report to decide about your attendance.

“Any more failures to appear and things may be tumbling down for you.”

Maley will appear at court in August for a further review of his conduct.
