Come along and lend a hand

People are being invited to get some wings on and help a major charity’s can collection at Glasgow Airport.

Marie Curie is appealing for Paisley volunteers to help manage the charity’s collection cans at the international hub next month.

The local Marie Curie fundraising team is keen to get collection can co-ordinators on board to help look after collection cans in shops, newsagents, chemists, pubs and doctors’ surgeries and also place collection cans in new locations.

And on Friday, July 13, organisers are urgently looking for some Paisley people to help make the event a huge success and bring in as much money as possible for the charity, which helps people get through terminal illness.

Yvonne Sondh, Marie Curie community fundraiser for Renfrewshire, said: “By just giving up two hours of your day you’ll help to raise vital funds and awareness for Marie Curie.

“It’s a great way to get involved and the money raised from the cans will help Marie Curie to provide vital care and support to people living with a terminal illness and their families, when they need it most.”

And one Paisley volunteer knows exactly what it means for people to be helped by Marie Curie.

Julie McGuire said: “I’m a volunteer for Marie Curie as I will never forget how invaluable their support was when I brought my mum home to spend her last few weeks in her own environment, surrounded by her family.”

Yvonne added that whether people are seasoned fundraisers or a newcomer looking to get involved for the first time, the Marie Curie fundraising office would love to hear from them. And it is simple to find out how you can help. You just have to be 16 or over, and you can call Yvonne on 07771 963622.
