Stewart is hoping to turn in a German masterclas­s

Teen will represent his country at European Team Championsh­ips

Old Ranfurly’s Jamie Stewart will be driving off into the sunset after being chosen to represent Scotland in Berlin.

Stewart, 19, has been selected for the upcoming European Amateur Team at the Faldo Course, A Rosa Scharmutze­lsee between July 10 and 14.

Stewart enjoys a growing reputation in the sport, which has been boosted by him taking the plunge and switching school for the United States in recent years.

The Old Course Ranfurly ace already has a packed trophy cabinet from his time on the Scottish circuit, which seen him bag the boys Scottish Order of Merit back in 2016 at just 16-years-old.

And, at the end of his fifth year of high school, Stewart decided to pack in his studies at Gryffe High School and head out to the University of Missouri on a scholarshi­p, playing for an eight-man university side ranked within the top 25 sides in the whole of America.

He is joined by top-ranked Scot and recent US Open qualifier Ryan Lumsden of Royal Wimbledon, who is included in the side representi­ng Scotland.

The duo will tee up alongside Stuart Easton ( Irvine), Euan McIntosh (Turnhouse), Sandy Scott (Nairn), and Euan Walker (Kilmarnock Barassie).

Scottish Golf announced Scotland’s lineup for all the European Team Championsh­ips.

The four championsh­ips will tee off in the same week, with the Ladies Team Championsh­ip taking place at Golf Club Murhof, Austria, the Girls Team facing off at Forsgarden­s Golf Club, Sweden, Scotland’s Amateur Team taking on the Faldo Course in Berlin and the Boys Team going for glory at the Golf Resort Kaskada Brno, in Czech Republic.

Renfrewshi­re is also represnted in the Ladies Championsh­ip, with Golf Union stalwart Eilidh Briggs among the selection. Briggs, who plays her golf at Kilmacolm Golf Club, is accompanie­d by current women’s Order of Merit leader Hannah McCook (Grantown on Spey). Three further selectors’ picks went to experience­d Chloe Goadby (St Regulus), Connie Jaffrey (Troon Ladies) and Shannon McWilliam (Aboyne), who recently represente­d Great Britain and Ireland in the Curtis Cup in the USA.

The girls’ team for their European team event at Forsgarden­s, Sweden features reigning Scottish Girls Champion Hannah Darling ( Broomiekno­we) and current Girls Order of Merit leader Louise Duncan ( West Kilbride). Carmen Griffiths ( Aboyne), Lorna McClymont (Milngavie), Jennifer Rankine (Haggs Castle) and Kirsty Brodie (Strathmore) complete the team.

And current Scottish Boys Amateur Champion and leading Boys Order of Merit star Greg Dalziel (Airdrie) will head up the Boys Team competing at Kaskada Brno, Czech Republic accompanie­d by Jack Broun ( Ayr Belleisle), George Heath (Woodsome Hall), Ruben Lindsay (Ayr Belleisle) Connor McKinney (Joondalup CC) and Calum Scott (Nairn).
