Ryan’s netted 150 goals

Johnstone Burgh fans are saluting their club after bosses beat a host of rivals to snap up 150-goal ace Ryan Officer.

Officer arrives at Keanie Park following a prolific spell at Paisley & District Amateur Football League side Glynhill Moorcroft, where he struck his remarkable tally in just two seasons.

The striker played a key role in the side’s success over that period prompting a number of junior clubs to have a closer look.

The 22-year-old was earmarked as one of Burgh manager Jamie McKim’s top targets this summer, and the gaffer and his assistant David Hill scouted their man on no less than 10 occasions as they strived to convince him to join the Burgh.

And McKim revealed he was delighted to have finally landed his man, telling Express Sport: “A number of teams were interested in securing Ryan’s services for next season and I could not be happier knowing he will be wearing the Burgh jersey next season.

“We met with him on Friday afternoon for talks and his mind was made up within minutes.

“His scoring record in the past two years speaks for itself. He is a big, powerful player and his ability to control the ball allows him to create chances for himself as well as bring his teammates into play. His versatility as a forward will be a terrific asset to us.

“He is a talented, young player and we are confident the best is yet to come from him. It is up to us to make sure we develop Ryan to realise his potential and we have full belief in our ability to do that.”

Meanwhile, McKim has further bolstered his coaching staff following the arrival of Johnny Allan as coach.

Bringing a wealth of coaching experience with him, Allan joins after a successful period at Glenvale Football Club, where he worked alongside McKim.

The manager had been keen to add the finishing touches to his coaching team and believes the addition of Allan ties things up off the field.

He added: “Bringing Johnny in was a no- brainer. Success has followed him wherever he has gone.

“His experience as a coach and his knowledge of Junior football, following his son’s career over the years, will be valuable to everyone and I believe he will have a tremendous impact on everyone at the club.”
