Bigot in racist rant
A bigot hurled racist abuse at a takeaway worker before squaring up to him.
Scott Williamson, 31, challenged Rahim Rauf to a brawl after kicking off at Manzil Tandoori.
He struck a window and shouted slurs during the town centre rammy.
Appearing at Paisley Sheriff Court, Williamson admitted acting in a threatening or abusive manner.
Defence lawyer Tony Callahan insisted his client was suffering from poor mental health at the time.
He said: “He was hospitalised shortly after this incident.”
Williamson kicked off at the takeaway in Erskine’s Bargarran Square.
He shouted and swore during the rant on February 2.
Prosecutors insisted the offence was raciallyaggravated.
A charge Williamson assaulted Mr Rauf during the ordeal was dropped when he pleaded not guilty.
The brute has been warned he could be subject to a curfew.
He was ordered to take part in a social work background probe.
Experts will quiz him to find out more about his health and circumstances before a sentencing decision is made.
Sheriff Linda Smith warned he could be locked up if he comes to the attention of police again.
She said: “I am going to defer sentence for the preparation of a Criminal Justice Social Work Report and a Restriction of Liberty Order Assessment.
“You have conditions of bail and you have to keep out of trouble in the meantime.
“You must come back to court and you must cooperate with social workers compiling the report.”
Williamson, of nearby Blantyre Court, has been ordered to return on July 30.
