Detectives are now appealing for witnesses to the shocking assault, which happened around 5pm on Saturday in Dalskeith Road, Ferguslie Park.

It is understood a man was arrested in connection with the incident and later released without charge, pending further inquires.

The victim was treated in hospital and later allowed home.

Detective Inspector Ross MacDonald, from Paisley CID, said: “A 29- year- old man was seriously assaulted in Dalskeith Road, around 5pm on Saturday.

“He suffered a hand injury after he was attacked by two men carrying bladed weapons.

He was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital for treatment following the incident, which happened around 8.10pm on Friday.

Cops describe the suspect as a white male in his late teens or early 20s.

DI MacDonald added: “We are following a positive line of inquiry in relation to this incident, but would again appeal to anyone who may have witnessed it to get in touch.

“This was an unprovoked, serious assault that left a man needing hospital treatment.

“If you have any information at all, then we would like to hear from you.”
