Festival’s fitting tribute to Frightened Rabbit star

- Belladrum Tartan Heart event to honour Scott Hutchison

Buddies heading to this year’s Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival can expect a touching tribute to Frightened Rabbit frontman Scott Hutchison.

The family-friendly festival, which takes place near Beauly, Invernessshire, will have its usual mishmash of pop, rock and traditional folk.

But this year’s festival will be made all the more poignant following the news that they will honour the late singer. The band were revealed as the headliner for the festival’s Hot House stage shortly before Scott tragically took his own life in May.

Rather than replacing Frightened Rabbit after the death of their singer, the festival will play the band’s seminal album, Midnight Organ Fight, during what would have been their set.

The backdrop will include a video tribute to Scott – and a collection for Frightened Rabbit’s chosen charity, the Scottish Association for Mental Health.

Promoter Joe Gibbs said: “Following suggestions from fans and our own deliberations we felt that a tribute to Scott and the band would be more appropriate than any other course of action.

“Playing the album live will be a chance for everyone to come together to pay tribute to and remember both Scott and the band’s outstanding contribution to Scottish music.”

The band have been firm favourites with Belladrum, having previously appeared at the festival in 2008, 2012 and 2014 and the tribute is sure to stir at the heartstrings of every reveller there.

Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival takes place between August 2-4 at Beauly near Inverness and tickets are available at www.tartanheartfestival. co.uk/tickets2018
