Stubbs will be in the hotseat for supporters’ Q&A session

New boss set to meet the fans

St Mirren manager Alan Stubbs has refused to shy away from the supporters after the club confirmed he will take part in an annual question and answer session.

The event, hosted by the St Mirren Independent Supporters Association (SMISA), follows in the footsteps of previous nights with the likes of Danny Lennon, Tommy Craig and Jack Ross.

The event, which will take place in the hospitality suite at the Simple Digital Arena, has been scheduled for Tuesday, July 31.

Fans will be given the opportunity to pick the brains of the club’s new manager ahead of the big league kick-off at the beginning of August.

Stubbs will take questions from the floor, and will no doubt be quizzed about new signings, plans for the new season and his hopes for the Buddies assault on the Premiership.

The former Hibernian gaffer has wasted no time in putting his own stamp on the Saints, having already drafted in Josh Heaton, Cody Cooke and Jeff King to bolster the ranks since his arrival.

Stubbs will make his Buddies bow this Saturday when the Saints welcome Bolton Wanderers for a pre-season friendly, prior to the League Cup kicking-off the following weekend.

The league then starts with a flag raiser against Dundee on Saturday, August 4.

A SMISA spokesman confirmed: “As the new season rapidly approaches, we know fans will be keen to hear from the new man in the dugout – so SMISA has organised a meet-the-manager Q&A night where Alan Stubbs will take questions from the St Mirren support for the first time.

“It will be on Tuesday, July 31 in the hospitality suite at the stadium, with doors open from 6.30pm for a 7pm start.

“The event is open to all fans and is free to attend, but should it reach capacity, it will be first come, first served.

“You can guarantee your place by registering via the Eventbrite on the St Mirren website.”
