Rubbish can be a winner

-

Talented young artists in Renfrewshire are being challenged to take part in a ‘rubbish’art project.

They are being asked to design sculptures made of recycled materials.

The sculptures will be showcased at the Year of Young People 2018 space at ‘GO LIVE! on the Green’during the Glasgow 2018 European Championships.

The Junk Art Challenge, launched by Young Scot, asks artists across Renfrewshire to create thoughtprovoking sculpture designs that explore young people’s passion for sustainability.

Young artists aged 16 to 26 can use recycled, upcycled and reclaimed materials for their sculpture to champion sustainability.

The chosen three ideas will be brought to life with help from members of the public of all ages at‘GO LIVE’.

Louise Macdonald, chief executive of Young Scot, said:“The Junk Art Challenge is one of our most ambitious art projects to date. As parts of the Year of Young People 2018, we’re calling on Renfrewshire’s young artists to showcase their creativity and inspire young people to see recycling and sustainability in a whole new light.

“Everyone is welcome to visit Go Live at the Green and help young people bring their amazing ideas to life.”

An expert judging panel will give the three artists £1,000 to help transform their designs into real-life sculptures at GO LIVE!’
