Nursery worker accused of lying

-

A nursery worker faces a rap over claims she lied to bosses.

Nicola Fish is accused of providing “false information” while working at Cairellot Nursery.

She is being hauled in front of a Scottish Social Services Council ( SSSC) panel to answer allegations her “behaviour was dishonest”.

Fish is alleged to have broken strict rules for carers at the Bishopton centre.

The watchdog has the power to strike her from the industry register or sanction her if it finds misconduct proven.

A report stated: “While employed as a childcare practitioner by Cairellot Nursery Ltd, it is alleged that you provided false information and your behaviour was dishonest.

“It is alleged that your actions impair your fitness to practise because of your misconduct.

“The fitness to practise panel will decide if the allegation is proved; if the allegation is proved, whether the worker is fit to practise; and, if the worker is not fit to practise, if a sanction should be placed on their registration.

“A worker is fit to practise if they meet the standards of character, conduct and competence necessary for them to do their job safely and effectively.”

Fish will be asked to attend a three-day hearing in Dundee.

Tribunal chiefs will assess whether she breached the social service workers’ code.

The panel also has the power to dismiss claims and order no sanction.

It may also decide to endorse registry records with warnings and order corrective training.

No details of when the alleged rule breach or what “false information” was passed on has been made public.

Cairellot Nursery opened on in 1993.

It offers day centre care for pre-school children at its centre on Greenock Road.

A decision on the hearing is expected later this month.
