It’s all change at the top of table

- Bowls

Elderslie Bowling Club leapfrogged Caledonia in the Paisley and District Division One with a victory in the top of the table clash.

The visitors recorded a superb 11-5 win at Caledonia’s expense to move back to the top of the league following a fortnight in second.

The league has had something of a homely feel in recent weeks, with the majority of clashes going the way of the home side.

However, there was a role reversal in the bowls ranks over their last outings as four of the five away sides all notched up victories.

A 9-7 win over Barrhead was enough to keep Meikleriggs just outside of the relegation places while their rivals still sit midtable.

Anchor meanwhile suffered a slip-up after losing 10-6 to Kilbarchan. Elsewhere Linwood still remain in the hunt for a win after a 10-6 defeat of their own at the hands of Wellmeadow.

Blacklandmill were the only side to take the win at home as they edged past Renfrew, 9-7.

The sides all return to action this afternoon as they hold out hope for another week of sun-soaked greens.

League leaders Elderslie will have to be wary of an Anchor side who still hold out hope of clawing back at the division’s top sides.

Barrhead will be striving to bag much-needed win at the expense of Kilbarchan, while Blacklandmill are targetting another home win, this time against Linwood.

Week eight fixtures: Anchor v Elderslie, Barrhead v Kilbarchan, Blacklandmill v Linwood, Caledonia v Renfrew, Meikleriggs v Wellmeadow.
