Riyad shines for ‘Lie

-

Ferguslie Cricket Club remain in charge at the top of the Western Premier as they racked up another win – at the expense of Uddingston.

The Meikleriggs side lost the toss as the hosts elected to put them in to bowl.

However, Uddingston’s decision appeared to backfire as the wicket seemed favourable towards the Ferguslie bowlers, who quickly seized the upper hand as they took three early wickets for just 12 runs.

Uddingston skipper Hari Singh did his best to keep the side in the tie as he completed an innings of 65 not out, but a lot of the damage was already done despite his efforts as the home side finished their 50 overs with a tally of 141/8.

The in-form bowling threat of Riyaad Henry was the stand-out performance from Ferguslie as he took three wickets for just 36 runs.

The Uddingston bowlers also benefitted from the wicket early on as Michael English and Gregor Preston-Jones fell early in their reply.

However, man of the moment Henry quickly took charge and completed his own man of the match performance with 67 runs as Ferguslie eventually eased to victory by six wickets with just short of eight overs remaining.

Elsewhere, a defeat for second top Clydesdale at the hands of Stirling only served to cement their spot at the top of the table. The result also moves Stirling into third place.

Poloc drop from third to sixth after their own winning run came to an end at the hands of Prestwick.

And Greenock’s three wicket run over Ayr was enough to move them out of the relegation places, switching spots with their opponents as a result.
