What a way to celebrate

Craigielea has its 13th birthday party

- David Campbell

A care home celebrated its not so unlucky 13th birthday in style.

Residents at Craigielea in Renfrew were entertained by Scots crooner Christian and tucked into some tasty cake to mark the day.

The sun was out as residents were joined by their family and friends for the party.

They all had a great day and with music from Christian and the Neilston Strings Ukulele band, everyone got into the swing of things.

They also managed to raise a fantastic £612 for the care home’s Comfort/Wish Tree project which helps provide outings and treats.

Jenni Mack, one of the activities coordinators at the home, said: “It was a wonderful day, busy and successful and everyone had a great time.

“The day was organised by myself and activities coordinator Lucy Reid. We were entertained by Chris McLure, better known as Christian, and Neilston Strings Ukulele band who were both fantastic. We had fish and chips in cones, a buffet and the amazing La Dolce Vita in Paisley providing ice cream from their ice cream bike.

“We have had feedback from families and staff to say it was the best party yet so we’ll be getting planning for our Christmas Fayre to make sure that it is just as successful.”

Craigielea, which is part of the Holmes Care Group, specialises in caring for people with dementia or who have suffered brain injuries.
