Former Clan ace Mike’s loving life with the Storm

Former Braehead Clan forward Mike Hammond insists he was never in any doubt that he would stick with Manchester Storm.

Hammond had been linked with a return north of the border after his Storm teammates Scott Pitt and Matt Beca returned to the Clan.

Instead, he has chosen to stay alongside former Clan head coach Ryan Finnerty following an impressive season with the Storm.

The 28-year-old was the league’s highest points scorer last year as the club enjoyed a second-place finish and won the Patton Conference.

And he says seeing how Finnerty is putting his team together as they aim to emulate their achievements last season was another persuasive factor.

“I’m thrilled to be coming back to Manchester to play in front of some of the most passionate fans in the league,” Hammond said.

“I’m looking forward to joining a good core of guys from last season and seeing the coach add some key pieces so far this off-season has made my decision to return an easy one.

“I can’t wait to get camp started again and I’m excited to be competing for the league title again.”
