A paedophile nabbed with child rape videos in a games folder on his computer has been caged for two years.

Adam McCairns, 25, hid 130 clips of youngsters being tortured in a file named after fantasy tabletop adventure Dungeons and Dragons.

The fiend dodged a jail stretch after being caught with a similar stash two years ago.

He was finally locked up after being convicted at Paisley Sheriff Court on Wednesday.

Sheriff Tom McCartney insisted he had taken “deliberate steps” to cover his tracks by installing file-wiping software.

He said: “You are a real risk of sexual harm to children.

“I conclude the only appropriate sentence is one of two years imprisonment.”

Cops seized his hard drive after raiding his flat in Barterholm Road.

The files were stored in a folder labelled “D and D stuff”.

He hoarded them in less than two days – searching terms including ‘paedo’, ‘ Lolita’ and underage ‘prostitute’.

He lied about downloading them during a trial.

Forensic expert Amanda McDonell told how the films were hidden in “folders within the folder”.

She said: “This was possibly to hide the fact that it’s indecent images of children.”

McCairns amassed the videos at his flat yards away from St Charles’ Primary School.

The court heard more than half the images were in the worst category for depravity.

McCarins had scoured the web for clips of kids as young as four being abused.

He used peer-to-peer sharing software to link to computers around the world and gather videos of boys and girls in January.

Software tests revealed he also had file-deleting software to try and cover his tracks.

A jury took just seven minutes to find him unanimously guilty.

The court heard the pervert had been caught with more than 8,000 child abuse images at the same home just two years ago.

He was being monitored by police and social workers when he downloaded more.

McCairns was given a Community Payback Order after being caught in 2016.

But he was allowed to live just minutes from the school.

He has been banned from contacting anybody under 17 online or in person and must reveal his internet use to police.
