Bosses at East Renfrewshire Council want to hear from people about the local authority’s Community Learning and Development strategy for 2018 to 2021.
They are looking for people’s views on priorities for these services and how the council can address them.
Community Learning and Development ( CLD) primarily covers the work of three teams
The Adult Learning team supports people in the learning of new skills, which range from reading and writing, to English as a second language and employability support.
The Young Person Services team works with young people aged 16 to 25 in schools, at youth clubs, with the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme and alongside specialist support for young parents.
The Communities Team backs residents to create and sustain community groups to take action for themselves.
This includes a wide range of groups with recent examples being growing the number of social groups for older people and the Participatory Budget event, held in March this year.
Community Learning and Development aims to provide young people under 25 and adults aged 16 and above with skills for life, learning and work.
It also supports community groups to be independent, sustainable and to make a meaningful contribution to their community.
East Renfrewshire Council adds that CLD aims to help individuals and communities tackle real issues in their lives through being actively involved in their own communities and engaging in learning opportunities to develop their own skills.
