Cash aid for stroke survivors

-

Stroke survivors in Renfrewshire are being reminded there is financial help available to help them adjust to their new life.

Stroke Association in Scotland offers Life After Stroke grants to people who need financial assistance.

The grants include a one-off payment of up to £300 to help buy vital home or personal equipment like mobility aids, kitchen appliances, specialist aids or household furniture.

They can also be used to help people become more active in their community.

Andrea Cail, director of Stroke Association in Scotland, said:“With over 124,000 stroke survivors living in Scotland, you are likely to have come across somebody affected by stroke in the community.

“As a leading cause of disability, many will be aware of the devastating effects it can have – affecting people’s ability to walk, to communicate and deal with their emotions. Having a stroke can also result in financial challenges, such as for those unable to return to work.

“As a charity wanting to support as many stroke survivors as we can, we are encouraging people to apply for a grant.”

Applications must be applied for via the Stroke Association, by a health or social care professional, or another charity.

To find out more about applying for a Grant, call the Stroke Helpline on 0303 3033 100, visit stroke.org.uk/grants or email GrantsScot@stroke.org.uk
