Salute hard-working councillors
A national awards scheme has been launched to recognise the work of councillors across the country.
And Paisley Daily Express readers can nominate representatives from Renfrewshire and East Renfrewshire councils.
The new event has been set up to honour those going the extra mile for their constituents.
The Councillor Achievement Awards, organised by local government think tank LGiU Scotland, will hand out awards in six categories.
Anyone can nominate a serving councillor for an award: members of the public, councillors and council officers.
Nominations will be open throughout the Summer and early Autumn, before shortlisting the entries.
Awards will be presented on Thursday, November 29, at a ceremony held at Edinburgh’s City Chambers. The categories are as follows. ● Community Champion: for councillors who have gone above and beyond in supporting their communities
● Finance: for councillors who have shown vision in maximising resources available to the council to best support residents
● Digital: for councillors who have been particularly innovative or inclusive in helping to roll out digital solutions
● Health Integration: for councillors who have pioneered new ways of approaching health and social care provision
● Education: for councillors who have performed outstanding work in the field of education
● Leader of the Year: to celebrate the work of an exceptional council leader
