Renfrew’s Jack Hart delivered a stunning display to produce two top-10 finishes in the British Superbike Motostar Moto3 Standard Championship.

As a result he is now 12th overall in the standings.

The competition took place at Scotland’s own Knockhill race circuit – making this Hart’s only race on home tarmac this season.

This gave him the upper hand on a track he knows well and he was aiming to use this knowledge to his advantage. Aafter a good day of practice on Friday, he was confident he could be challenging for a top-10 finish.

The weather was fantastic over the course of the weekend and this made for perfect conditions for the Saturday morning qualifying session.

Hart set out to try and get some fast laps in at the start of the session but with Knockhill being such a short circuit and with there being 38 riders on the track, he couldn’t get a clear lap in.

He pitted to try and get some clear space on track and this worked well. While he was still catching slower riders, he set a good time and qualified in 10th position for the races.

Hart was happy with that as the traffic had meant he found himself in a good rhythm.

In race one, Jack got off to a decent start and managed to hold his position into the first corner but he lost a bit of time to a group of four riders in front of him challenging for sixth position.

He managed to close the gap after a few laps but as the pace was really quick, he wasn’t able to get close enough to try an overtake and finished the race in a slightly frustrating 10th place.

Race two was on Sunday afternoon and after a good morning warm- up, Hart was feeling confident for the race and was determined to get a good start.

He again managed to hold his position but more importantly was right on the back of the group of bikes challenging for first position.

The pace was really quick and as they all battled it out for the first five laps, Rhys Irwin crashed that caused a small gap to appear.

The front pack then pulled away but Hart was still in a group of five. Due to the speed ahead, he wasn’t able to make any overtakes but finished in an excellent ninth position.

This was a great performance the youngster’s race was much faster and he was much closer to the winner than he has ever been.

Hart told Express Sport: “I was delighted with my pace and two top- 10 results. I am competing against the best riders in Britain and all of the riders in front of me are quite a bit older.

“I’m also really happy to move into 12th position in the Championship and looking forward to try and push into the top 10 in the next few races.”

The next round of the BSB Motostar Championship is at the iconic Brands Hatch GP Circuit this weekend.
