It’s time to take a hike and help hospice
Accord is looking for volunteers to tackle Ben Nevis
Pull on your hiking boots and climb Britain’s highest mountain for one of Paisley’s favourite charities.
Accord Hospice is inviting hardy types to climb Ben Nevis in a bid to raise money to help fund its care for the seriously ill.
The hospice says the trek is demanding and will take from between six to nine hours.
But there’s no need to worry – training will be provided.
Ben Nevis is the highest point in Scotland and the British Isles, standing at no less than 1,343m, which is roughly 4,000 feet).
Fort William, on the southern edge of the Great Glen and located on a sea loch, will be the base for the three-day trip.
“This is a long, arduous uphill trek which will provide you with a wonderful sense of achievement when you reflect on what you have done,” the hospice says.
“Your trip will be led by experienced Discover Adventure leaders and support crew.
“Our leaders are selected for their knowledge and experience, friendliness and approachability, sense of humour and ability to safely and effectively deal with any situation that arises. They are also trained in first aid.
“You are in very safe hands with a Discover Adventure leader.
“The crew will have mobile phones and/ or radios where appropriate, medical kit and other safety apparatus where necessary, as well as vehicle support.”

A fee of £ 99 will be due on booking then each participant is being asked to raise a minimum sponsorship of £550.
The event will run from June 7 to 9 next year so there is plenty of time to get organised and get sponsorship.
Accord Hospice looks after people with serious illnesses at its Hawkhead Roa d base and in their own homes.
It is one of the most supported charities in Renfrewshire.
