The wait to see Kirk is finally over

-

Martin Metcalfe and the Fornicators take to the stage at The Bungalow tonight.

You might remember Martin – who first performed in the mid80s as a member of Goodbye Mr. McKenzie along with Angelfish, Isa and The Filthy Tongues and, latterly, The Filthy Tongues.

He has always been a class act and the audience will enjoy seeing him perform and delve deep into his enviable back catalogue with songs from across his lengthy career interspersed with the songs that have inspired him over the years.

At the end of 2017 he released a live album recorded in Glasgow. Tickets are £8 and it starts at 8pm.

After their last gig at The Bungalow, Theatre of Hate fans couldn’t wait to see them return to Paisley. Now the wait is finally over. In 1980, Kirk Brandon formed Theatre Of Hate from the ashes of heralded punk band The Pack. Joining Kirk on vocals were notable punk musicians Stan Stammers and Luke Rendall, along with old school friend, Steve Guthrie and Canadian born John “Boy” Lennard, who revolutionised the band’s sound with his haunting sax lines.

Kirk, Stan and John will be joined by current Spear of Destiny band member Adrian Portas (New Model Army) and Chris Bell (Hugh Cornwall) on drums. In support are The Membranes. It starts at 8pm and tickets are £10.

The Cave has Pheonix Gene in tonight to start a ‘Four in a Row’ weekend and they kick off at 9pm. Tomorrow Gordon’s Alive are on at 6pm and later at 9pm it is the turn of Second Hand News. On Sunday 2Bob Rocket are playing at 6pm.

The Old Swan has Vintage Vinyl in tonight at 8pm and in ‘The Shoppers Slot’ at 4pm tomorrow is Five Wheel Drive.

At 3pm on Monday The Spuds are back for another afternoon party from 3pm and on Wednesday The Pre Fab Four will be playing from 6pm. The P90s are at The Tea Gardens from 6pm on Sunday. Live band TBC are at The Anchor on Sunday from 4pm.

Callum’s Cavern have two bands in tomorrow night who have been gigging here and abroad constantly over the last year and it’s good to see them in Paisley again. Fire Exit, punk rockers who have been going for over 40 years and Talk of the Town, one of the best if not the best Pretenders tribute bands around. Tickets are £6 and £5 for those unemployed.

Open Mic Nights next week are: Sunday at The Bungalow with Cat Caldwell from 8pm. Monday 8pm at The Abbey Bar hosted by Dunky Hunter, Andy Lindsey is at The Anchor on Tuesday from 8pm and on Wednesday Johnny Barr is the host for Burger and Keg at 8pm. Also on Wednesday Andy Lindsay is at The Patter Bar from 8pm. Thursday it is Manhattan, also at 8pm. Support your local venues and keep music live.
