Can you help care for carers?

-

A lifeline service that helps children, families and adults overcome adversity is looking for volunteers to provide support to carers and family members.

Health and social care charity Quarriers runs the Dual Breaks Club to provide a short break for carers who use Quarriers respite services.

They give important practical and emotional support as well as advice to overcome the challenges of being a care-giver.

They monthly social club, that takes place the first Saturday of each month, helps people meet others in similar situations.

The group are looking for four people to volunteer their time to connect with the carers and provide support to staff running the club.

The main aim of the role is to encourage people to take part in singing and dancing within the musical activities and help individuals with any arts and crafts.

Volunteers would be asked to help create an inclusive atmosphere by encouraging people to take part in singing and dancing, assist individuals with arts and develop social relationships and skills. Finally they would help to set up and tidy away any activities.

Helpers should have a good sense of humour, be fun loving and able to bring out the best in people. Dependability and regular attendance would be key to building relationships.

The Dual Breaks Club takes place every first Saturday of the month between 2pm and 5pm at the Tweedie Hall in Linwood.
