A gran- of- three has been left with a fractured cheekbone after an alleged attack at her home.

Fiona Bruce, 52, claims she suffered the injuries after inviting an old pal into her home for a drink in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The incident happened in West Brae, Paisley, at around 3am, before the injured gran was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital for treatment.

Fiona told the Express that the ordeal started when she was smoking a cigarette outside her house and started talking to an old acquaintance.

She invited her in and the pair had a drink together before Fiona went upstairs to use the bathroom.

However, Fiona claims things turned sour and she was left with serious facial injuries.

The mum-of-two called paramedics after seeing the severity of her injuries and was taken to the RAH for treatment before being released.

She told the Express: “I’ve got a cracked cheekbone, a black eye and various other bruises.

“My neck and shoulders are hurting.”

The incident, which took place around 3am on Saturday, left Fiona with bruising all over her body.

She added: “It was my own fault, so to speak, for inviting her in when I shouldn’t have.

“But I’d spoken to her on numerous occasions before and she was always pleasant enough and nice enough.

“I didn’t want her standing out on the street at that time in the morning having a conversation.

“I was in the wrong place at the wrong time.”

Fiona, who is a fulltime carer for her mother Catherine, said she has been left extremely shaken.

She had only been living at her property for four weeks but says she no longer feels safe going home.

“My whole body is so sore. I’m on painkillers and I am just so agitated.

“I’m jumpy ... the least wee noise and I’m jumping.”

A Police Scotland spokesman last night said a 45-year-old woman had been reported to the Procurator Fiscal in connection with the incident.
