‘I don’t want to miss the bus back to jail’

Ex-escort girl causes a row as she appears in court

- Ron Moore

A former escort girl previously involved in a sex trial kicked off in court amid fears she was going to miss the jail bus.

Sharon Kerr, 36, lost the plot in the dock as she admitted a shoplifting charge for snagging a pack of meat from a Co-op Store.

Drug addict Kerr, formerly of Dundonald Road, Paisley, but currently locked up at HMP Corton Vale, admitted stealing a quantity of meat on January 18.

First representing herself she pleaded guilty to the charge of shoplifting at the Co-op in Paisley Road, Renfrew, after she and a coaccused had taken packs from the shop and legged it without paying.

Fiscal depute Colin Wilson confirmed her plea was accepted by the Crown and asked that sentence be deferred until next month.

However, as she was informed her case was being recalled so she could speak to a lawyer after lunch, Kerr got stroppy over waiting and protested: “I don’t want to miss the bus going back to prison.”

And when taken back to the cells below she added: “Will I f**k miss my bus!”

Presiding Sheriff Colin Pettigrew wryly observed the accused may have preferred the dining facilities at the prison over lunch served at the court.

When her case was recalled shortly later defence agent Terry Gallanagh confirmed Kerr was eager to board the G4S bus back to Corton Vale because sitting down in the cell was “proving difficult.”

Kerr was among a gang who lured victim John Steven to her flat in Renfrew for seedy sex in March 2016.

The High Court heard the victim met Kerr at her pad in the town’s Houston Street, and went to a cash machine where he took out £150 to pay her for sex.

But when they returned to the flat Kerr made herself scarce — and blade thugs Craig Dalton, 33, and Matthew Harrison, 23, turned up and stabbed him repeatedly with a machete and knife all over his body — nearly severing his thumb as he screamed for his life.

Dalton was given seven years and Harrison six years for the bloodbath.

Kerr was given a 32- month Community Payback Order by Lord Kinclaven after admitting two counts of theft by stealing from Mr Steven.

The accused has also admitted a string of charges including assault, shoplifting and failure to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court.

Earlier this year she was convicted of punching, kicking and battering former Renfrew flat mate Matthew Scott with a metal vacuum cleaner attachment, chasing him down the street while she was high on a cocktail of booze and drugs.

Kerr, who was remanded in custody, will discover her fate when she appears on August 15 for sentencing.
