Latest figures reveal Paisley house prices are on the rise

-

House prices in Paisley have shot up by almost £7,000 over the last year, new figures reveal.

The average sale price of the house in Renfrewshire has risen to £119,207 by the end of May, compared to only £112,415 in the same month of 2017.

Data released by Registers of Scotland (ROS) show families pocketed a six per cent increase, worth a cool £6,792 to each family.

And Buddies have done better than in many other local authority areas, as well as beating the national annual price of increase of 4.9 per cent.

Registers of Scotland Business Development and Information Director Kenny Crawford said:“Average prices in Scotland continued their upward trend in May with an increase of 4.9 per cent when compared to May 2017.

“Average prices have been increasing each month since March 2016, when compared with the same month of the previous year.”

However, the number of homes changing hands within Renfrewshire has fallen compared to the same month of last year.

The Paisley area recorded only 317 property sales in March 2018, down from 337 in the March of the previous year, marking a slowdown of 5.9 per cent.

Register bosses said it takes up to eight weeks for a sale to be registered so data published reflects the latest available records.

However, the downturn in sales is actually much worse throughout the rest of Scotland.

Kenny Crawford added:“Residential sales volumes decreased in March.

“The annual decrease of 16.1 per cent when compared with March 2017 in Scotland is in the context of large decreases across the rest of the United Kingdom.”

Neighbouring East Renfrewshire witnessed a 9.3 per cent increase in house prices, with the average home valued at £225,310, up from £206,087.

Glasgow saw a 6.6 per cent bump, with houses prices rising to £126,529 from £118,640.

But homeowners living in Inverclyde witnessed the average price dipping to £102,430 from £105,940, a dip of 3.3 per cent.

The biggest property losers are living in Aberdeenshire, where values dipped 3.7 per cent, showing prices slipping to £190,115 this May when compared to £197,404 last year.

The average price of a property in Scotland in May 2018came in at £149,004.
