Hospice’s Vinnie is taken to the cleaners

Mascot’s looking good thanks to Harrod’s

- David Campbell

St Vincent’s Hospice’s much-loved mascot Vinnie the Lion is very much looking the part thanks to a generous Renfrewshire dry cleaner.

Harrod’s Dry Cleaner’s in Bridge of Weir offered to make sure his suit is fresh and fluffy – free of charge.

The award- winning firm, a long-standing hospice backer, will ensure Vinnie is at his very best when he attends events and fundraisers.

And the Howwood-based charity is thrilled with the continued support.

Fundraiser for St. Vincent’s Hospice, Laura McDade, said: “We cannot thank Harrod’s enough for their generosity and time, making sure our mascot Vinnie is always ready to meet children and grown-ups alike from all across Renfrewshire.

“Every penny generated by St Vincent’s Hospice goes directly towards helping us to continue to deliver care for people and families affected by life-limiting conditions, and acts of kindness like this make such a huge difference in allowing us to do this.

“The reaction Vinnie gets whenever he enters a room is amazing. You can see and feel how excited and happy all the children are to see him and Harrod’s have never failed to make sure he is looking his best.”

The dry cleaners, based in Castle Terrace, was only too happy to help out, with company boss Adil Khan, explaining he is proud of the part the company plays in the community.

He added: “At Harrod’s we have more than 30 years history with the local community, are a second generation business, and we have always been keen to support local causes in whatever way possible.

“As St Vincent’s celebrate their 30th anniversary, it only seems fitting that we are doing our part to help them continue to do the amazing work they do.

“We pride ourselves on delivering an excellent result every time and we are thrilled to make sure Vinnie is always groomed and ready to meet his public.”

St Vincent’s Hospice is a specialist provider of palliative care, offering support for individuals affected by life-limiting conditions, in their inpatient unit, day hospice and in people’s own homes across the community.
