Stubbs says it was good to talk with the fans

- St Mirren

St Mirren boss Alan Stubbs insists he enjoyed his grilling from supporters as he set out his plans at the SMISA annual Q&A.

Stubbs and his coaching staff of Brian Rice and Darren Jackson were in the hot-seat at the sell out event earlier this week.

Fans flocked to the Simple Digital Arena to pose all manner of questions to the new Saints gaffer as they looked to find out more about what he plans to bring over the course of the coming season.

Questions ranged from signing targets, injuries, and Stubbs’ ambitions for the season ahead.

And the Saints boss admits some the questions posed were tough but enjoyable nonetheless.

He said: “There were a couple of interesting questions but nothing untoward in terms of answering.

“When I have had events like that before you will get a number of wide-ranging questions – some positive and some negative.

“Hopefully my answers to them were what they were looking for. It certainly seemed that way from the response I got at the end.

“But football is all about opinions. From players, to managers, to the media and the fans, my opinion might be different to someone else’s – that is football and that is why we love it.

“I enjoyed it and I thought it was a good exercise and a good chance to meet the fans.

“It was the first one that I had and I doubt it will be the last.”
