Squad is hoping for big turnout at RugbyForce Day

-

Craig Ritchie Paisley is calling on punters to scrum on down as it welcomes Scotland stars as part of Royal Bank Scottish RugbyForce Day.

The town’s rugby club will be joined by internationalists Ali Price and Jamie Bhatti at The Anchor on Saturday as the club pulls together for a summer makeover.

Both the Buddies, and fellow Renfrewshire side Bishopton RFC, were awarded a prize on behalf of Royal Bank RugbyForce.

The Renfrewshire clubs have received their prizes ahead of RugbyForce this weekend, with rugby clubs across the country hosting a number of pre-season events, from DIY days to community fun days and raising awareness of the participating clubs within local communities.

Paisley were recognised as a Star Club and will receive a £ 1,000 cash prize, branded merchandise and the visit from Price and Bhatti. The club will be putting their grant towards a club DIY Day.

Clubhouse convenor Ryan McCready told Express Sport: “The Anchor is the life and soul of rugby in Renfrewshire and we would like to thank Royal Bank of Scotland RugbyForce for the grant that they have given us.

“This will help us achieve our goal to renovate the lounge area of the clubhouse.

“We are a community club and we would be grateful for any help that the community can give on Saturday.

“If you have a business and would like to donate materials that would be great or even if anyone would like donate a bit of time, that would also make a huge difference.”

More than 140 clubs had applied for Royal Bank RugbyForce support this year where an official panel of judges picked winners that demonstrated detailed and creative plans for RugbyForce weekend events that would benefit the wider community and grow passion for the game of rugby.

The fun, games and hard work will kick-off at 10am.

A Paisley RFC spokesman added: “We would like to welcome S c o t l a n d internationals Ali Price and Jamie Bhatti to The Anchor to help out on RugbyForce Day.

“The guys will be there for pictures, questions and even to do a bit of painting!

“RugbyForce day is all about putting the finishing touches to your rugby club for the season ahead.

“We still need your help however to make our RugbyForce Weekend a success.”

Royal Bank RugbyForce has donated more than £ 500,000 of funding and kit in the past 10 years to help more community clubs develop facilities that continue to make them appealing to their local communities and safe organisations for the future.

Ma l c o l m Buc ha na n , chairman of Royal Bank of Scotland Scotland Board, said: “We have witnessed first hand the huge difference the Royal Bank RugbyForce programme has made to clubs and the communities in which they play, helping them grow and flourish.”
