Staff forced to call the police

A bigot hurled abuse at a shopworker during a town centre rammy over a phone repair.

Kelly Ann Morrison, 29, stormed into the CEX store and branded staff ‘Polish c***s’.

She kicked-off after being asked to wait an hour for checks on a handset she had bought.

The yob admitted acting in a racially-aggravated abusive manner at Paisley Sheriff Court.

Prosecutor Saud Ul-Hassan told how she lost the plot after being told the mobile would have to be examined.

He said: “The accused attended with her father.

“She again advised there was a issues with the phone.

“She was advised further checks would have to be carried out to identify any potential faults.

“She was explained the process and that checks would require approximately an hour to complete.

“She agreed, however, said she would remain in the shop.

“The accused became agitated while waiting.

“She made the following comments, ‘She’s not even doing her f*****g job’, ‘that Polish c**t can’t even speak English properly’ and, once again, ‘Polish c**s.’

“Other witnesses believed the comments to be directed towards the worker because of her ethnicity.

“Other employees called the police.”

Morrison targeted a Romanian worker who moved to the country five years ago.

The court heard she had previously complained about problems with the phone.

But workers had carried out diagnostics on the handset and found no issues.

Morrison hurled slurs after returning to the Gilmour Street electronics shop on April 6.

Sheriff Francis McCartney warned racially-aggravated offences will not be tolerated.

She said: “I’m going to defer sentence for the preparation of a criminal justice social work report and a restriction of liberty order assessment.

“It is a condition of bail that you fully cooperate with the preparation of reports and attend when required.”

Morrison, of Orchard Street, has been ordered to return to court on September 3.
