Keep those songs coming Choir hopes to continue beyond summer

- Alison Rennie

A community singing group is helping spread the joy of music to all ages.

Charity Active Communities has set up a choir which meets every Wednesday morning.

It’s open to people of all ages and abilities meaning the group sing everything from the latest chart hit to Wheels on the Bus.

Manager Susan McDonald said: “It came out of our Friday morning drop-in club. People wanted a choir that was child-friendly so they could bring their kids along.

“We’ve been calling it our Summer Singalong and it’s been really popular during the summer holidays. People have been bringing their children along which has been great.

“We’re not a choir, we’re a singing group. We don’t hold auditions and anyone is welcome to come along and join in. “It’s a great feel-good activity.” Susan said they’re keen to keep the group going after the schools go back on Wednesday if there’s enough people interested.

Anyone interested in taking part can pop along to the Active Communities Johnstone hub on Quarry Street on Wednesday morning between 10.30am and noon.
